Having arrived late, I apologized to the officer in charge. He didn’t seem happy. “Don’t worry, recruit. Please step outside with me.” He led me to the parking lot and instructed me to begin my crunches. As I gazed at the gravel, a thought crossed my mind. “Ok, I trained hard. I got this.”
