Losing long friendships can be like having a bomb go off in your favorite childhood memories. I've tried to go back a few times. Once, I even snuck into a house I used to live in. I still have the happy memories and a few photos. For me, adult friendships are matter of convenience and aren't portable. I don't have the gift. There has to be enough Love in the bank to confront someone about how they are hurting you. It is deeply painful to say good bye. But craving connection is not friendship.
