I never believe a company when they start talking algorithms. I became a "friend of medium" after 4 stories got boosted. The boost program has already slid into irrelevance. My best advice for reads is putting out a publication newsletter (you get paid for it now) and include other author stories that you thought were outstanding. I rarely enjoy any of the posts Medium promotes.
